SMTP authentication for Outlook XP/2002 on Microsoft Windows

Outlook 2002, which is included with Office XP, requires the following changes to be made in order for you to use SMTP authentication:

  1. While in Outlook 2002, under the Tools menu, select E-Mail Accounts.
  2. Select View or change existing e-mail accounts, and click Next
  3. Select the e-mail account and click Change
  4. Ensure that Log on using secure password authentication is NOT checked.
  5. Change Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) to: REMOTESMTP.WYITH.NET
  6. Click on More Settings
  7. Click on the Outgoing Server tab.
  8. Ensure that My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication is checked.
  9. Ensure that Use same settings as my incoming mail server is selected.
  10. Click on the Advanced tab.
  11. Ensure that Outgoing server (SMTP) port is set to 5190
  12. Under Outgoing server (SMTP), ensure that This server requires a secure connection is NOT checked.
  13. Click Ok on the More Settings window.
  14. Click Next and then Finish on the e-mail account window.
